MUT – NRW 2023 Start-up Award goes to Cleansort

We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded the NRW 2023 start-up prize. The prize is awarded by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Industry, Climate Protection and Energy of the State of NRW and NRW.BANK.

Thanks to the technology we have developed, our Cleansort sorting machines enable us to recycle valuable scrap metal, conserve resources and significantly reduce energy consumption. The market maturity of the LIBS technology was supported by project and prototype funding from the German Federal Environmental Foundation (DBU).

The cleanLASER technology enables precise analysis of scrap metal and its alloys, which ensures efficient recycling. First, lasers are used to remove contamination and coatings. The alloy components are then analyzed using laser spectroscopy – in just six milliseconds with a success rate of over 93%.

The jury for the MUT Start-up Award NRW, chaired by Prof. Dr. Christine K. Volkmann, is made up of representatives from the Ministry of Economic Affairs, NRW.BANK and experts in business and start-ups from North Rhine-Westphalia.
