From Innovation to Industry Standard: New Case Study with OSR

Four years of industrial shift operation, more than 20,000 tons of sorted aluminum, up to 98 percent CO₂ savings compared to primary aluminum: Together with OSR, we show in a new case study how a pioneering project became a reliable industry standard for LIBS sorting of aluminum.

LIBS Sorting in Continuous Industrial Operation
When OSR introduced our laser-based sorting technology in 2022, it had hardly been tested in industrial shift operations. Today, the system operates continuously, in some cases across three shifts, and sorts automotive scrap by alloy into the 5000 and 6000 series fractions. The case study “From Innovation to Industry Standard” provides insight into the technology, operational practices at OSR, and the independent life cycle assessment conducted by EurA AG.
